Since Patient Focus Africa first sowed its roots in 2002 it has been actively involved in the development of Borite School. Each year us as Patient Focus Try to improve the learning conditions and overall living conditions of its scholars. We achieve this by taking them clothes, shoes and books supplied by both our staff and our overseas suppliers. Upon one of our first visits it was alarming to see the amount of students who couldn’t afford socks, so along with our overseas partner BOSO we donated countless pairs of socks so the students could walk without the risk of so many blisters. Since then we have thrown them a couple of Christmas, Easter and other parties. Christmas parties are by far the most exciting whereby John dresses up as Santa and hands out to each child a personally wrapped present and goodie bag of sweets, chips and cold drink. However this is also the most work as the week prior we have to sit and individually wrap 350 presents, ranging from barbi’s to -the almost impossible to wrap- bucket and spade. Every year proves more and more fulfilling and just the smile of on one of their sweet faces is worth all the wrapping paper and celotape money could buy. In 2012 we plan to be a lot more involved to help ensure stability in these children’s lives.
